What Barnabas is
Not a place to perform. A place to grow.
Barnabas is different from social media. There is nothing to score and no one to keep up with: no likes, no counters, no algorithm, no endless scroll. Each day you take three to five minutes for yourself: a piece of wisdom, a question, a small step.
The screen points outward: to your own life and to the people around you. Then you put it down again.
The daily moment
Four quiet steps, every day.
- 01
Wisdom
A text to pause on. Grounded, never hurried.
- 02
Reflection
A question, just for you. What you write stays yours.
- 03
Action
One small, concrete step for today.
- 04
Growth
A gentle close. No score, just your own path.
Love is patient and is kind.
Barnabas is yours
What you share stays yours.
Barnabas is being built so that your answers, your journal and your conversations with the coach are encrypted and yours alone. Your church sees whether you take part, never what you write. Privacy is not a setting you can switch on. It is in how Barnabas is built.
Your side
Encrypted, yours
- Your personal answers
- Your journal
- Your conversations with the coach
What the church sees
Only participation
- That you take part, not the content
- Participation per small group
- Never an answer, never a name next to what you wrote
Growing together
You start on your own. Together you go further.
Your own daily moment always stands on its own. What you add to it is your choice. It fits around your place, never the other way round.
Tracks
A path with direction
Quiet series around a theme, for yourself, such as joy or faith. Step by step.
Together
Honest conversation
You and your partner first answer a question separately, then share your answers together. That opens conversations that would not have happened otherwise.
Church
Side by side
Your small group, your prayer requests. Someone lets you know they are praying with you, without counters and without an audience.
For churches
Coming alongside the newcomer.
Barnabas is made for churches that want to meet people not only on Sunday, but also stand beside them during the week. Especially those who have just come in.
You see participation, never content. Safety and care are part of the design from the start, not an afterthought: GDPR, a confidential adviser and the protection of young people.
What we stand for
Four principles.
Calm over stimulation
No counters, no badges, no streaks. Nothing that rushes you or holds on to you.
Privacy by structure
Not as a promise, but as a way of building. There is simply no path for others to your words.
Safe and careful
Protection of young people and careful handling of vulnerability, from day one.
Grounded
Wisdom from licensed, cited sources. The guidance asks questions and makes no doctrinal statements.
Materials
Handouts for your small group
Do you have an access code from your church, your group or a partner? Then you will find the handouts under Materials.
The name
Barnabas: son of encouragement.
In the book of Acts, Joseph is given the name Barnabas: 'son of encouragement'. He stood beside the newcomer and took him in when no one else dared to. That is where Barnabas gets its name. The logo: two lines, an arm around the shoulder.
Get involved
Would you like to think along?
Barnabas is in development. Are you a church that would like to think along or run a pilot? Or would you simply like to stay informed? We would love to hear from you.
